Dear Member,

The next meeting of the Donegal Association is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the Irish Center. We will meet in the ballroom. Dinner and the crowning of the new Philadelphia Mary from Dungloe, Michelle Mack, will take place in the Barry Room at 5pm after the meeting. We invite all members and friends to join us after the meeting as we will crown our new Philadelphia Mary and thank our 2007 winner, Meagan McGough for a job well done! The crowning will take place after dinner. The Donegal Association will provide a $10 dinner rebate for members in good standing only.

There will be a by-laws meeting on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Irish Center starting at 6:30 PM. A combined ball and Mary from Dungloe meeting will follow at 7:30 PM. Ball chairperson, John Gallagher and Mary chairperson, Marie Gallagher welcomes your participation and suggestions for the upcoming ball. As you know, the selection of the Philadelphia Mary from Dungloe will now occur during the evening of the Donegal Ball.

The Donegal Bowling league finished its season with the Letterbarrow team of Mary Tobin, Barb Shea, Denis Brennan and Jim Crossan who won the championship over the Milford team of Eileen Cashin, Justin Bainum, George Conaghan and Patsy McGroary.

Congratulations to Orla Fay (daughter of member Martin Fay) for winning the Donegal Association of Philadelphia perpetual trophy at the Four Provinces Feis.

Our condolences go to Pat Collins on the death of his son Thomas Collins. Pat lives in Havertown and is a great accordion player.

We attended a beautiful Mass for Fr. McNamee’s 75th birthday and retirement

He’s in love with the ocean, the earth and the skies
He’s enamored with beauty wherever it lies.
He’s victor and victim – a star and a clod
But mostly he’s Irish – in love with his God.

From Fr John McNamee’s celebration Mass booklet.
